MY STORY

MY STORY

As a multi-faceted, results-oriented user experience practitioner, my focus has been on end-to-end B2B and B2C websites and complex transactional cloud-based and native mobile applications that provide value to both the businesses that launch them and the users who use them. Working on cross-functional teams within an Agile environment, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate at the strategic level with product owners, designers, clients, and other stakeholders, as well as conduct user research to leverage both qualitative and quantitative data that inform the final design. My diverse client base includes such world-renowned companies as ADP, Amgen, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM, JP Morgan Chase, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Pillsbury, and Wyndham Hotels. Against a backdrop of technological and/or regulatory constraints, I've been able to effectively solve complex digital problems, balancing the needs of the user with those of the business.

While my focus today is on user research, my work is greatly influenced by my extensive design background. My design philosophy is rooted in the principles of the Bauhaus. The early 20th century architects who founded that movement were focused on minimalism, on the practical and functional, on solving complex problems, making the complicated understandable, and taking into consideration the impact on the viewer. These underlying principles dovetail so well with the ideas of usability, accessibility, and designing with the user in mind, and have enabled me to create or help other designers create simple, intuitive, and elegant end-to-end solutions that provide increased revenue, productivity, engagement, and user satisfaction. My background as a designer has also served me well as a researcher by enabling me to understand and have empathy for the designers with whom I work.

Besides advocating for the user, I'm also fascinated with technology’s use in the interconnection of things and the impact of design and technology on humanity. Other interests include learning how to use LEGO Serious Play® to foster creativity, innovation, connection, and collaboration during the research and design processes, and expressing myself through the art of collage, printmaking, and doodling.
